Are you using the updated alsa modules from my repository? Try to uninstall them with the command sudo apt-get purge alsa-modules* then reboot and check if skype starts working again. If so, your only option is to stay with the alsa modules shipped with the kernel (older and with incomplete support...

why dont i have the 2.6.28-8??? what did i do wrong? The latest official kernel from ubuntu repositories is 2.6.28-13. why is my webcam not working then? what am i missing out? i installed cheese but its all blacked out. Within skype video options it recognizes the hardware but it doesnt work, its just black. anyone? I have always had the problem with the window sizes of some applications - not much to do here since some of them use a fixed window width or the minimum you can downsize it is still outside the little 10' screen.
