Re: Optimizing power drain
I got that from the upstream report as well. But there is no actual mention of what restraint it is. It does seem odd that other trackpoints increase only slightly or not at all, but the synaptics one needs 450+ interrupts per second to send data. That sounds less like a hardware constraint and more...

Re: Optimizing power drain
Here are the open related bugs to optimizing power drain: Kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/373245 Basically, it seems UbuntuOne may be causing some of this, but investigation is still going on. Touchpad https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics...

Re: Optimizing power drain
I was just playing with the bluetooth and autosuspend. The module can only be powered down with the module is removed. So just correcting the autosuspend and disabling bluetooth (via Blueman) still leaves it powered up. Removing the module allows it to power down completely. I wonder how the bluetoo...

Re: Optimizing power drain
1) USB 1-8: Webcam ... 2) USB 3-2: Bluetooth ... So, the nc10-scripts are working well. But there is a bug with the USB power level of the webcam and bluetooth. Does anyone know who (and by who, I mean what piece of software) controls those default settings? Probably udev? Anyway, I can use your re...

Re: Optimizing power drain
So I was looking at some of the USB settings as to why the bluetooth and webcam were always powered up. 1) USB 1-8: Webcam "powertop -d" shows the webcam as 100% active regardless of kernel module being present or not, so I went to look at the usb power values (as we all know, powertop mak...

Re: Optimizing power drain
Hmmm....I'll have to play with that. My icon didn't disappear at all. It just stays there.voRia wrote:Anyway, the blueman tray icon disappears when the bluetooth module is removed, so I think it works good enough this way.

Re: Optimizing power drain
blueman is significantly better than built in bluetooth manager (in the fact that it actually works). I couldn't connect to my cellphone over the built in one, but it connects right away with blueman. Plus, I liked it because it has the built in bluetooth disable, and it remembers the settings over ...

Re: Optimizing power drain
and for reference, the command I was using to watch wake-ups was gnome-power-statistics Here is a related bug for processor wake-ups: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/373245 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14424 It also seems something may be going on with the SMP supp...

Optimizing power drain
I was playing with Karmic to see how low I could get the power drain using "normal" operations in order to try to get as much battery life as WinXP. I am using the scripts from the PPA (they sure are nice :D ) It seems that it's getting pretty close, but there are some things that concern ...

Re: BIOS 11CA and brightness control
Well, hopefully the official updater isn't incorrectly calculating the checksum.

Re: BIOS 11CA and brightness control
That is odd. I used the official updater and it worked just fine.
THe file size is different than for the other releases, but the 11CA file is smaller than the 09CA file (total installer, not BIOS image). Maybe the restructured the file.

BIOS 11CA and brightness control
There is a new BIOS version out 11CA. It seems that someone over on the SammyNetbook forum noticed that backlight control with KMS is now working (or at least somewhat) and with suspend and resume. Perhaps special code isn't need anymore. http://www.sammynetbook.com/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php...

RE: [NC10] List of all the available BIOSes
Samsung has posted the 10CA BIOS now. There isn't any information about the changes, but they've been updating about once a month with a new version. The secret BIOS menu has been gone for awhile now. Several people on the other NC10 board (myself included) have upgraded to the 10CA version with no ...
