Re: HOWTO: Enable the FN-F4 key (LCD/VGA switch)
This howto explains how to enable the Fn-F4 hotkey. IMPORTANT NOTE before starting: Ubuntu Karmic suffers a bug which prevent the VGA out to work correctly when compiz is enabled. So, make sure it's disabled when you want to use the VGA out (there is a convenient script in the 'samsung-scripts' pac...

Re: RE: [NC10] 1024x600 framebuffer support (only for Jaunty)
The method basically worked for me on my MSI Wind U123. The usplash appears at the correct resolution now, but it is not animated. That is, it is just a static image, and the progress bar does not move. How can I fix this? I have the same problem on my samsung NC10. Waking up ubuntu shows the non a...

Re: NC10 is very slow
Test this solution for a while, then please let me know the results. If you confirm that the gpm from my repository was the cause, I'll definitely remove it. The computer is also slow, even if your power-manger is deactivated. The flickering effect comes only sometimes an now I'm using your package...

Re: no wifi...
Well, I'm sorry, I can't tell you how to remove completely the madwifi driver. This is a typical problem when a software is installed bypassing the package manager: I installed it with sudo apt-get install <packetname> Is this an installation bypassing the package manager? I can't find the package ...

Re: no wifi...
If you didn't keep it after installing the madwifi drivers, just redownload the madwifi sources, extract them and use the 'sudo make uninstall' command from within this new directory. And yes, the 'ath5k' driver should be automatically loaded at boot. I tried to do so. But there is still the madwif...

Re: no wifi...
How can I find this folder? I searched for madwifi and found only two files: madwifi.py and madwifi.pyc both in /usr/share/jockey/handlers/. "sudo make uninstall" does not work (in german: make: *** Keine Regel, um "uninstall" zu erstellen. Schluss", means: no rule for &quo...

Re: no wifi...
Did you install the madwifi drivers manually? I ask because ubuntu jaunty does not ship them by default, so they should not be installed. Yes, I did. That was the first thing I installed in May, while testing ubuntu 9.04. The original drivers did not work with the NC10. So, make sure to completely ...

Re: NC10 is very slow
It takes 20 or 30 seconds to open a window or to start a program like gedit. Working with the programs seems to be normal - once the the window is open. But opening another (sub-)window takes very long... And there is another curious problem: Sometimes all windows comes in front - one after the oth...

Re: no wifi...
Here is what I did yesterday before I had the problem again: I installed RandR and tried the Fn F4-Key - it works fine! Then I installed nc10-fb for the new logo. I restarted the system for have a look at the logo (works fine - thank you)! But now there is no wlan recognized. It seems to be the same...

NC10 is very slow
Hello again!
Since a while (don't know since when) my Netbook NC10 is very slow. It takes 20 or 30 seconds to open a window or to start a program like gedit.
That's annoying!
Do you know, how to help me?

Re: no wifi...
mmm, that's strange. Try to remove then reinsert the ath5k module, with these commands: sudo modprobe -r ath5k sudo modprobe ath5k and check again if the 'wlan0' is created. No, that changes nothing. If it's not, check in your dmesg if there is any error explaining what's wrong. Perhaps it's this: ...
