Report: Ubuntu 11.04 natty and N148 N150
N148 and N150 are basically the same thing (but sold in different regions). After upgrading to Natty, everything works out of the box except 2 things: 1. Compiz fusion settings lost This is due to compiz 0.9.4 has been rewritten in C++. Configurations don't seem to work with the new version. (while ...

Re: Backlight doesn't work with latest Maverick kernel
Passing the kernel parameter acpi_backlight=vendor does the trick on N-148. However, I did see weird issues running on battery, after idling for a few seconds system tries to adjust the brightness itself back and forth flickering for 20-30 times, unchecking the dim display when idle fixed it. Good t...

Re: Regarding Load_Cycle_Count
Sadly, yes, I've tried all of that. The 'Spin down' options are both disabled in gnome-power-preferences and as I said, I've tried all manner of hdparm -B values (128. 220, 254, 255 etc) and none of them make the slightest difference to the rate at which LCC is increasing (about once every 10 secon...

Re: Regarding Load_Cycle_Count
Hi, I've had a Samsung N210 netbook for a couple of weeks and installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.04 on it. It was only while reading the above post that I thought to check the Load_Cycle_Count of my own disk - it's increased on average by about 600 per hour for the last 50 hours... I've tried all so...

Is there a Linux equivalent to Samsung Battery Life extender
Looking into the samsung-tools, there is no such function to control the battery charge as in Windows so as to extend the battery life. The Samsung battery life extender extend the batt life by limiting the full charge percentage to 80% so that the full charge/discharge cycle will be decreased to so...

Re: Webcam Issue
Does it work in Skype?
I only use the webcam when doing video chat in Skype. It worked OOTB, but the microphone by default is muted. I need to manually un-mute it so as to make it work.

Re: Regarding Load_Cycle_Count
In Lucid 'laptop-mode-tools' is no more installed by default, if you want it you have to manually install it. Previously you had to enable it in '/etc/default/acpi-support', now it's enabled as soon as it's installed. Then, if you are using 'Samsung Tools', in the 'Samsung Tools Preferences' dialog...

Regarding Load_Cycle_Count
Hi guys, I have a quick question regarding HDD's Load_Cycle_Count. There used to be a LCC related bug in Ubuntu (actually in ACPI, all distros have the same problem). But it was fixed in Ubuntu 8.10. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi-support/+bug/59695 I run Ubuntu (D620) and Arch Linux...

Re: Fn-F key combinations don't work on N148 Ubuntu 10.04
Thanks mate, you did an excellent job!
I'll take a look into the scripts and the package, try to understand what you have done to enable the key combinations, out of curiosity.

Re: Fn-F key combinations don't work on N148 Ubuntu 10.04
I probably know why it doesn't work. I didn't run a apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade after adding the PPA. So I didn't install the modified kernel from the PPA. I'll do a dist-upgrade and see if it works.

Fn-F key combinations don't work on N148 Ubuntu 10.04
Hi guys, First, than you Fortunato, and other contributors so much for building the samsung-tools and PPA/deb packages. It's really great for those who love Linux, especially Ubuntu. I just switched from Arch Linux to Ubuntu (on N148), did a fresh install and all look good. Except the Fn-F keys, the...
