Re: Backlight doesn't work with latest Maverick kernel
I can confirm that if I tell Ubuntu to unload the module before suspend and reload it after restore the blinking occuring sometimes after restoring is gone. To do so, edit (or create) a file called /etc/pm/config.d/unload_modules that file must contain a variable declaration and a list of modules se...

Re: Backlight doesn't work with latest Maverick kernel
The workaround by ignasigarcia also works on my N220. I have just two notes to add: 1) To be precise, it should be blacklist samsung-backlight in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf (at least this is the syntax for all other modules listed there) Yes, you're right... My mistake. and 2) For some reason c...

Re: Backlight doesn't work with latest Maverick kernel
I've been able to figure out why yesterday the problem was gone, and therefore, I found a way to prevent this problem from happening. I've tried this with success on Fortunato's kernel as well as with 2.6.37 available at mainline kernel's ppa. I've tried this with my NP150. Note that this is not a F...

Re: Backlight doesn't work with latest Maverick kernel
This is curious, if brightness level is set to minimum, i.e. cat /sys/class/backlight/samsung/brightness equals 0, then the blinking won't occur and the screen will sleep ok.
CAn anyone confirm this on their unit?
Ignacio

Re: Backlight doesn't work with latest Maverick kernel
On my NP150 this brightness blinking will also prevent the screen from going to sleep. If I enter in a terminal the command sleep 1; xset s activate to put the screen to sleep I can reproduce the blinking and the screen backlight does not turn off. Yesterday I restarted my netbook and everything wor...

Re: Maverick hangs
I've tried to recompile Fortunato's kernel changing some parameters in the liux config file. I followed the ubuntu wiki page on recompiling the kernel, but the script failed.
Fortunato, could you help me with some guidelines in recompiling your kernel?
TIA

Re: Maverick hangs
Sorry in my previous post I said "official kernel", but I meant "ubuntu kernel". Anyway, after some more testing (I thought it might have something to do with X), I've gone with a bold decission: I've installed the lucid kernel (2.6.32) from the voria ppa in Maverick and voilà, i...

Re: Maverick hangs
The problem is not related to the voria ppa since it also happens with the official kernel. I've been doing some tests and I can say for now it is not related to the wifi drivers (atheros in my case), the backlight driver, or the sound drivers. We also have to keep in mind that maverick isn't releas...

Maverick hangs
Hi there I've been using the voria kernels and utils with my samsung np-150 since lucid without any problems whatsoever. For a week now I've been testing maverick with the voria ppa enabled and it works superb except for one thing: it won't recover after suspend for around half the times I put it on...

Samsung Q330?
Hi there! Your software works great with my N150. I'm so happy with my unit because of your work. Many Thanks. Now I'm planning to get a Q330, which must not be considered a netbook. I see people asking about hardware compatibility with Samsung notebooks as well, so I'm doing the same now (sorry if ...
