Re: New application's coming: Samsung Tools!

I've had the same problem on my NC10 after the latest kernel update (2.6.32-20). For some reason which I'm yet investigating, the 'easy-slow-down-manager' has not been automatically updated against the new kernel. A manual reinstallation of the 'easy-slow-down-manager' and 'samsung-backlight' packa...

Re: New application's coming: Samsung Tools!

I have both easy-slowdown-manager and samsung-tools installed. I had both of these installed even before today's update. With the current code the wireless is not enable-disable-able. The option for wireless on the tray applet is grey'd out and using Fn-F9 tells me that wireless switching is not ava...

Re: New application's coming: Samsung Tools!

In the latest Samsung-Tools the option to specify how the wireless is toggled is no longer there. On my NC10 I had to set this to iwconfig to get the Fn-F9 to become available. The latest version has no wireless toggling available at present. The system service tab no longer offers the same function...

NC10; Ubuntu 10.04 Beta1, Plymouth Splash screen not at boot

As in the title of this post on my NC10, upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04, the new Ubuntu Splash logo and progress throbber is not being shown at boot. It is occasionally shown at shutdown or restart. My boot progress goes from grub2 to a blank screen with a single underscore cursor at top left and then ...

Re: Some considerations about the future of the repository

FYI, I was one of those advocating holding on to Jaunty for a little while longer.

I have now moved to Karmic on my NC10 main machine and I am also experimenting with Lucid (but on a Lenovo T61).

Thanks for your work. Excellent stuff.

Re: [NC10] Kernel 2.6.31

Hi voRia, your application of the fix was good. I am now able to use my 3g USB modem again. [To make this post.] Sorry it took such a long time to test it. I tried to do a dual-boot with Karmic and the 9.10 installer partitioner crashed and hosed my Jaunty ext3 filesystem. It took about 18 hours for...

Re: Some considerations about the future of the repository

With Jaunty, and the work you have put into this project for all of us with an NC10, I have a very stable and efficient machine that puts some of my colleagues higher-spec laptops to shame. Karmic is not LTS and at present it has a lot of open bugs. Some of these bugs are quite a pain for many peopl...

Re: [NC10] Kernel 2.6.31

That is a useful post but it does not resolve my problem. My USB modem is being correctly picked up. Yes, it is seen as usb-storage initially and using the commands listed in that link do help. However NetworkManager is still dead. Remember that my USB modem works perfectly with the Jaunty 2.6.28 ke...

Re: [NC10] Kernel 2.6.31

I also have problems with the USB Modem using the same kernel on Karmic. However there the USB modem is just not recognised and the bug 446146 applies. NetworkManager does not crash. Here I am on Jaunty using Voria's 2.6.31-14 kernel. Using the USB E169 modem here causes NetworkManager to crash and ...

Re: [NC10] Kernel 2.6.31

Using the 2.6.31-14. Using my Huawei E169 USB Modem causes NetworkManager to crash. NM will not restart whilst the E169 modem is plugged in. Once removed NM will restart and networking is restored. Using a stock Jaunty 2.6.28-15 generic kernel this does not happen. I have used previous 2.6.31 kernel...

RE: [NC10] New Ubuntu repository for our favourite netbook!

I have used your ppa for a while now. but Fn-F9 still does not work. I have the backports installed and NC10-scripts. I can "sudo wlonoff.sh" and this works and works without a password prompt. Fn-F9 does not. xev does show the correct content of Fn-F9 as in page 6 of this forum. Just not ...
