Karmic Boot time
Hello,
Using Karmic with encrypted home, I boot (from power on to desktop) in 70s. It is slower than Jaunty (50s) on the same NC10 without home encrypted. What are your values with home either encrypted or not?

Projector state of problems voRia vs Jaunty
Hello, In the past, I have avoided such kind of purely personal question. I am a teacher and my first course with projection is on Monday. Do users have experienced problems using projector either using voRia script or Jaunty? I need absolute stability (do not want to stop a course because of a cras...

Opensuse seems to provide a more complete preference window. Is it into Karmic?

RE: Optimized netbook distro (eee ones)
Look at the date... The first post relates to Intrepid, standard install, and standard config. I lost few seconds to login, but all launching times (into full desktop, not just GDM) compare each others. Anyway, Ubuntu Jaunty's boot is proportionnaly fast in netbook (about 45-50s) compare to my PC.

RE: Optimized netbook distro (eee ones)
Today, I does not use minimal install. A gnome Jaunty minimal can boot about 10s faster than a normal jaunty. You will gain more when you use alternative to gdm and so one. This result is close to those of Distrowatch testing minimal intrepid version. The major interest of a minimal Ubuntu distro is...

RE: Multitouch?
Apparently multitouch is a work in progress... And already possible but experimental. See the link for details.

RE: Multitouch?
The next linux kernel has got patch on multitouch input support. Do not know (and understand) if that could bring multitouch support to the NC10's touchpad.

RE: Boot time ?
I confirm the info.
Don't forget you can use a netbook derivated Intrepid ubuntu distro. You normally gain 25s compared to Intrepid and even more when they will update to Jaunty. So using Jaunty is a good first approach before trying anything else.

RE: External display or projector
Dear voRia, I have tested Jaunty on USB key. There are still the old bugs of the gnome display manager, but it really better manages multiple screens. URandR functionalities seem to be progressively integrated. Even the keyboard fn+f4 works (that the main info) and switches to both, internal, extern...

RE: [NC10] How to fix the sensitivity of the touchpad
Dear voRia
I have found a tweak to obtain multitouch but I have not implemented it. I have stopped to test OS and softwares... I am waiting to Jaunty and currently need to spend more time on my job tasks.
