Hi all,
I found this little nice forum via ubuntuusers.de. I had bought my NC10 few weeks ago and after some tryings I had installed UNR (Ubuntu Netbook Remix), this might the best suited Linux for the NC10. For myself I use Linux since '98 which different distributions, but Ubuntu is for me the first use now. My personal favourite is the XFCE-Desktop, Gnome only what needed, from KDE4 I went away, that's to much optical effects and too many bugs.

My NC10 has 40GB for XP at the first partition (downsized) and the rest with UNR. The most Functions running perfectly, only some FN-Keys are not perfect configured yet.

Hey, I'm Jonathan from Germany and the first time i've used Linux (better: Ubuntu) was in 2008. After buying the best Netbook in the world... (of course the nc10 :D), i tried to tune Ubuntu that way, that the netbook was faster and needed less energy.
I found voria's repository and a dream got real :D
now, with the new Samsung-Tools it's even better than before :D
Besides, i love playing piano, my passion is photography (maybe you can visit my page: www.cragg-photography.de -- it's in German, but i have to change that, i promise :) ) and i do a lot of sports... like swimming and jogging, fitness, etc...

I'm glad to be here and happy that the Samsung netbooks get very good support referring to free software :D

Greetz,
Jonathan

Welcome!
I was looking at your photos, they are very nice, congrats! ;)
I was thinking, some of them would be great as desktop wallpapers too, have you ever thinked about providing them in bigger resolutions?
I'd use them for sure. ;D

Hi Samsungians and especially voRia,

yesterday was a lucky day for me and my N130 - ubuntuusers.de showed me the way to this site.

I bought the N130 some weeks ago and immediately wiped Win 7 Starter from the HDD, replacing it with Mandriva 2010 in varieties - from PowerPack to MUD LXDE Edition. They all did well except for brightness control and some other hotkeys.
Being a Linux adept for several years (SuSE to Mandrake to Ubuntu - and several other distributions in Virtualbox), I was eager to get all features of my fine netbook working under "my" OS.
As quoted before, I read about this site and decided to install Lucid Lynx.
Now - with the help of voRia and this forum, the only downer left is the regular freeze ca. 3 minutes after booting (dmesg tells me that the HDD respectively the controller needs a reset). But before installing a customized kernel, I will bear this downer and wait for the first kernel updates after release time...

In real life ;-) I love glider flying, my family and spending time with friends.

I'm curious about future developments for our favorite netbooks.

Greetings from Munich, Germany!

Uli

I was really :o . brightness key was also working after modification in grub argument by adding acpi_backlight=vendor .
Now once again I'm fully shifted to Ubuntu :) I'd like to thanks Voria for his kind support :D

Hello world,

my real name is Peter and I got myself a N220 just yesterday. I've been a long-time linux user by conviction and am really happy that there are people improving linux for those nice samsungs...

Got away from ubuntu some years ago (they were just to eager changing stuff, it drove me nuts and I backed off to debian stable, which wasn't the solution either...) but now I am back in the boat. I am really curious how ubuntu netbook remix will work out!

hi everybody!

i'm spino from italy. i've been having linux installed on my machines since 93, and got completely rid of windows around 2006 with ubuntu. i bought my girlfriend for christmas a samsung n150p and i suggested her she might be better of with linux - win7 was slow as an old granny!!! so after trying about 6 distros in the last weekend we decided ubuntu standard was the way to go.

cheers!

Hey there guys,

Many thanks for the brilliant work. I am a newbie to linux. Recently converted to linux after a lot of frustration dealing with windows.

The samsung tools and backlight works absolutely perfect.
I believe a lot of Samsung N- netbooks owners have problems with the realtek pci which appears to either (i) not working after resume from suspend or (ii) temperamental connection - which drops every now and again.

Problem number (ii) above was driving me crazy for a week before I decided to update the kernel to 2.6.38 (I don't know much about kernel etc or how linux OS exactly works, but I did it after reading some suggestions from other websites). It appears that my N210 is working well.

The only issue remaining for me to find out is when I use the Fn key to disable the wireless, turning it on again doesn't seem to work (the wifi light is on, but refuse to connect). However, if the lid is closed (suspend) then open again(to resume), the wifi works fine - i.e. it unloads and loads again once the resume takes place.

Anyway, many thanks again for the brilliant work!

Hi guys,

I'm a Berlin based medical student who likes to play with PCs (from 1994), Macs (from 2004) and Linux (from 2007). Since I bought my N150P last year, I'm also a user of samsung-tools.

Personally, I use an iMac running OS X as my main system and Win7 (via Bootcamp) for games. This netbook is my work machine while preparing for my exams as well as a big distraction from work as I am constantly optimizing my system to my needs. I tried Kubuntu, Ubuntu, stayed with Mint for a while and now my latest discovery for the N150P was Lubuntu, which imho fits the netbook best.

In the long run, I'm trying to find ways to switch to Linux as my main system but there's still tasks I can't accomplish without proprietary software for the "big" platforms (i.e. my banking software, Lightroom 4, Battlefield 3, Skyrim), so I keep testing.

In my leisure time, I like to play with my DSLR. :)

See you around,
J.
