HD spins down and up every 10 or 20 seconds

hi guys,
i just installed the package laptop-mode-tools. before that i recognised that my nc 10 plus had some strange noises like when the hd spins down and awakes, but in very short distances. after i installed the package i thought this procedure i just described now happens more often than before. how do i fix it and more interestingly how do i know if it is the HD ? anybody who also has the nc 10 plus is invited to share their experiences with this odd sound i had never heard before in a laptop. maybe its some special tools from samsung ...
