It has been reported from some users that 'maximus', the tool included in ubuntu netbook remix in order to maximize all windows, can cause problems like yours. Try to disable it.

Sorry but I'm not using netbook-remix and maximus packet is not instaled on my system.
Ubuntu 9.10 is coming, so I will retry after a clean system install !

New 'xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.9' package on the repository. Updated to intel driver 2.9.1.
