Hello,

I posted my experiments in another thread, but maybe it would have been better here…

To summarize, I have a samsung R580 and if I install the samsung-backlight module, I experience the same problem as you. However, what is quite peculiar is that if I rmmod the module, then the Fn keys work properly.
So, for me, the only steps that work is to boot with the BL module and then remove it.

Can you test with your hardware?

I tested, it didn't work on n308 in XFCE and KDE

Removing the 'samsung-backlight' module just after the KDE session is started fixes the problem on Samsung NC10. :)
