samsung-tools not starting

When trying to start samsung-tools or samsung-tools-preferences, I just get the Errormessage "Unable to connect to session service!" and it doesn't start.

samsung tools version: 1.2-1
OS: archlinux
Kernel: 2.6.35

I believe it has to do with arch using python 3

I take that back, got past the python 3 issue and am now stuck at this like the OP. Any word?

I am also facing the same issue. I am also on Arch64 installed on Samsung-N210...

The issue is that the program as written requires an active X11 session.

I've created a patch and filed a bug report to fix samsung-tools command so it doesn't require an X session. You can see the patch here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/samsung-tools/+bug/832164.
