SOLVED: Samsung NC-110 backlight controll problems

Hi Everyone,

for Anyone who's got the same problem i had on my NC-110 HZ1 with linux mint 11 onboard.

After installation samsung-tools and samsung-backlight the controll of backlight and level of backlight were working or not - depending on i don't know what.

finally i found a solution somewhere in the internet so i post it here:
run terminal
command:

sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

change the line:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
to:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor"

save file

than in terminal:
sudo update-grub2

after that - restart your samsung and now it should work always - i test it for 10 days now and no malfunction in controll of backlight.

I hope i can help anyone with this hint.
If this method is already at the forum - let it be deleted.

That solved the problem for me on my SAMSUNG notebook NP300E5A.
I'm using linux Mint KDE 2012 32bit ,i had the same problem with ubuntu 12.04 beta and chakra linux also.
The command in my case was :
sudo kate /etc/default/grub
kate will replace gedit.

Glad this worked for others, unfortunately this didn't work on my NC-110 with Ubuntu 12.04... still looking for a solution. Thank you for your effort.

Hello, I'm from Argentina. LK82's method works perfectly in the first try on my Samsung NC 110 netbook with ubuntu 12.04 and kernel 3.4.4.

I am running MINT 17 Mate on my NC110 and tried this fix but still cannot get the Fn Brightness kesys to work. On ac power brightness is excellent but no way to dim it. On battery brightness is so dark I can just bearly read screen.

I had brightness working well using MINT 15, but then I up graded the the LTS and cannot get it to work.

If you offer a suggestion, please be complete so I as a newbe can follow the directions.
