Hi,
I also have an N140 and like you I wanted to use Ubuntu as my primary OS and just keep windows there in a small partition.
I got the N140 with winxp (I think it's also available with win7 starter) and during the initial setup of windows that it takes you through when you first turn on the ...

Re: [N140] Disk Freezing
Hmmm, sorry if I didn't report back about this before, I thought I had.
I've been using the kernel from voria's repository on my N140 for about a month now and I haven't seen any of the freezes since I started using it (previously I was seeing the freeze after ~5 mins every time), so yes, the ...

Re: HOWTO: Use the repository on K/Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
Kernel, 'samsung-backlight' and 'samsung-wireless' packages updated to version 2.6.31-19 on the repository.
I think there might be a problem with this latest package of 'samsung-wireless' for some reason.
Firstly, note that previously (for kernel 2.6.31-17) I had installed the 'N140-wireless ...

Re: N140 Karmic Realtek 8192E WiFi
Just in case anyone comes across this thread looking for the solution... this module is now provided in voria's main ppa repository. So if you have the ppa in your sources you simply need to install the 'samsung-wireless' package.

Re: Making NC10 faster with SDHC card?
I suppose that by using an SDHC card for swap then it saves the hard disk having to seek back and forth between data areas and swap areas on the same hard disk. But of course, only would be any benefit if you really are using more than your 2GB RAM - which I would say is quite unlikely to be honest ...

If you do want to try it... here is some info about setting up ubuntu to do it...

Reading some of that thread though, it more or less confirms what I was thinking... this isn't likely to increase your performance by much/at all.

Re: Making NC10 faster with SDHC card?
Hi,
AIUI, readyboost works by using a SDHC card as additional swap memory? If so, then I believe that this can be done on Linux too, but whether it will result in increased performance will depend on whether the card really is that fast and on what you're doing.

Re: N140 Karmic Realtek 8192E WiFi
I did a 'make uninstall' to remove my manually installed module, and backed out the config change I'd added to unload the module on suspend.
I then added the module from your experimental repository and can confirm that it seems to be working fine. I can connect to the wifi and suspend/resume works ...

Ah yes, I see what you mean, I am seeing the same behavior as you from xev. Fn+F9 is indeed reported as XF86WLAN as you suggested.
I'm not sure why the keys are not getting mapped correctly using the defaults included in the nc10-scripts package. This was a clean machine install a few days ago and ...

Re: nc20 scripts?
voria may be able to answer this better, but in general the nc10 scripts work with other models (I'm using them on an N140 for example). So I would give them a try and report back with any problems you encounter on the NC20.

Re: N140 Karmic Realtek 8192E WiFi
I've played around with the suspend/resume some more. The only way that I've so far managed to get this to work is to modify the following section in /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/55NetworkManager:
case "$1" in
hibernate|suspend)
modprobe -r r8192e_pci
suspend_nm

Re: HOWTO: Use the repository on K/Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
I ended up re-installing karmic from scratch and then added the kernel, udev and libc (I think?) packages from your archive repository. That seemed to work, and I'm now able to boot from the test kernel.
