Still no lucid package for the backlight support? I am waiting for this to upgrade. Is the kernel not yet frozen perhaps?

The backport modules did not bring any improvement for me; dmesg is still full of

I will use ndiswrapper for now. Is there any owner of a N310 that can confirm this?

It is strange; at work it is fine, but at home it takes ages to connect, and when it is connected it is very slow to load pages, etc.

Especially at home, I get a lot of these:

in my dmesg. I will now try the backported modules and report back.

Another issue with my n310 is that the wifi with the ath5k module is very slow. I have installed the windows xp driver with ndiswrapper and this is much faster. However, i don;t think this plays nicely after suspend, and also the samsung-scripts do not work with ndiswrapper. Is there a way ...

Ok, apparently the N310 needs the samsung-backlight package for those keys to work.

I am using the samsung-backlight package, but not samsung-wireless (the n310 has atheros wifi chip). I will now remove the samsung-backlight and see backlight control still works after reboot.

Ok, question 3 is not relevant anymore; I didn't notice I had karmic-proposed enabled, and thus was on kernel 2.6.31-18 and not on 2.6.31-17 from your kernel. Backlight works fine now (although no standard indicator, but that may be a gnome-shell issue).
