Linux On My Samsung

Works like a charm. For nvidia cards additionally install nvidiabl driver from official git repo and follow instructions there.

nvidia_bl driver is required to have nvidia card work properly on Samsung rv520.
The latest version of Ubuntu with all the drivers is 11.10.
Voria has already mentioned in one of his posts that he would not add nvidia_bl driver to the repo.
I Installed it from git repo, it works well with 3.2 kernel ...

You neet to load the module nvidiabl with an option max_brightness = 10000

if you are using ubuntu 12.04 than only 0.73 / 0.74 versions are going to work.
Older ones would not with 3.x kernels.
The lastest version of the driver is not avaliabal in any repo including mactelsupport and voria.

Brightness on an nvidia video card on Samsung can work correctly only if nvidia-bl-dkms driver is installed. The driver is not available in Voria's repos for Ubuntu 12.04 due to incompatibility with the latest kernels. I tried to install it from other repos the last version of the driver ant it ...

nvidia-bl-dkms is now working with the new kernels, it can be found in repos for Mac support.
but not in voria's repo. I also need this driver.

nvidia-bl-dkms is now working with 12.04 kernels. This driver is required to control Samsung RV 520 brighness correctly, please put the driver back to the repo.

Just installed it. It works. But the driver does not start automatically.
And I cannot control the brightness with FN+up/down buttons.

Is 0.74 version compatible with Precise? In Voria's post he said that this driver was incompatible with the kernels in 12.04.

It feels like none. I have the same notebook and brightness control is broken after upgrade to 12.04. It worked perfectly in 11.10 though. Now I can only decrease the brighness.
