Uninstall samsung-laptop-git and use the mainline version from the kernel (3.5 in testing right now or 3.4.6)
Try adding:

acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor in grub2 (search on google)

And see what happens.

I don't know if the new version let the fn keys work...(I had a problem with the monitor standby with 0.73 version and uninstalled).

To change the brightness manually just do:

echo XX > /sys/class/backlight/nvidia ...

Try loading nvidia_bl module at boot (MODULES in rc.conf)

Well, it's compatible with archlinux with kernel 3.4.2.. I guess it's fine. In voria's repo there is a 0.73 version and it's not compatible. 0.74 fix kernel 3.2.x compilation (ubuntu kernel)

yaourt -S samsung-tools-bzr

(io uso la versione linux 3.4.2-2 da testing perché carica bene il modulo samsung-laptop senza compilare da AUR samsung-laptop-git)

scaricalo e da terminale dai:

sudo dkms ...

You need nvidia_bl module.

Google it nvidia-bl-dkms git repo and in the downloads section, download and install nvidia_bl0.74 for ubuntu 12.04.

Problem is, samsung-tools hotkeys doesn't work! You have to echo the /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/brightness file (with a range from 0 to 127 ...

ho installato la versione samsung-tools-bzr sul kernel 3.4.2-2(con questa versione posso evitare anche di compilare samsung-laptop-git perché riconosce il modulo).

Ho dovuto installare anche il modulo nvidiabl (versione 0.74) in modo tale da avere /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight ...

Ho seguito tutti i passi per abilitare la regolazione luminosità per samsung con schede nvidia e funziona!

Il fatto strano è che quando diminuisco, scurisce gradualmente bene mentre non avviene il contrario.
Rimane a circa il 70% del massimo.
Secondo te che può essere?

Uso Ubuntu 12.04 LTS e tutto funziona perfettamente!
