Re: HOWTO: Use the repository on K/Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
Getting back to the previous state is no problem, since I still have an older kernel available from grub which I can use to boot from and remove the packages. I didn't notice anything unusual during the install but when I get chance I'll clean the system and add them again. I'll let you know the res...

Re: HOWTO: Use the repository on K/Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
A new kernel is available on my testing repository , it should fix the Fn keys on Samsung N140. I've uploaded new 'udev' packages too, which are needed to actually map and enable the Fn keys on Samsung N140. Please test them and let me know if everything works. :) Hi voRia, Thanks for the kernel, b...

Re: N140 Karmic Realtek 8192E WiFi
Good to know. :) Then I'll create a new package and I'll add it to the repo, containing this driver, for a fast and easy installation on ubuntu. Give me some days. ;) Hi voRia, This sounds good. One word of caution - I've been having problems with suspend/resume since installing this driver - with ...

Re: HOWTO: Use the repository on K/Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
If you want, I can add a patched kernel on the repository. The only problem is, I can't test it in any way, since I have a NC10, not a N140. Let me know, and I'll add it in a few days (I'm still on vacation now, and I'm trying to stay away from PCs, at least during the holidays :P) That sounds cool...

Re: N140 Karmic Realtek 8192E WiFi
FYI, tigerbright on the sammynetbook.com forums has posted details of a native Linux driver for the 8192e that he/she obtained from realtek. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds promising. See this post for details: http://sammynetbook.com/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?43545 I've now tested th...

Re: HOWTO: Use the repository on K/Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
I have already been looking at the arch linux page you pointed me to. Am i ok to install the necessary packages on Ubuntu? I wouldn't recommend using the packages mentioned on the Arch page on Ubuntu. If you want to get the Fn keys working then I think the best way to do it would be to either: inst...

Re: HOWTO: Use the repository on K/Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
hi voRia, I have a Samsung n140 running Ubuntu with the most recent kernel 2.6.31.16. I have sucessfully run the CLI commands and then installed the nc10 packages (script and backlight). Then NC10 command works in the CLI but the brightness keys do not. I have tried finding out the keycodes for the...

Re: Optimizing power drain
I'm curious to know what power drain powertop is reporting for you all (along with machine, distro, kernel and additional tweaks you are using). Thanks! I've not played with powertop before, but I've just had a look - quite addictive to try different things and see what the change is :) I found tha...

Re: [N140] Fn keys
Hi all, I've done a bit of googling around on getting the Fn keys working in Linux on the N140. I found this page regarding the N140 on Arch Linux which has some useful information regarding the Fn keys: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Samsung_N140#Fn_Keys It seems like the Fn keys can be made t...

Re: Netbook Remix vs Desktop?
I am using 9.04 UNR on my NC10, and have loaded both an English and French keyboard configuration. In classic desktop mode, I use the Gnome panel applet "keyboard switcher" to switch between one configuration and another, but in UNR mode this applet doesn't appear and there is no way (tha...

N140 Karmic Realtek 8192E WiFi
Hi all, I received my N140 on Friday and so I've been busily getting Karmic NBR up and running on it this weekend. The nc10 scripts seem like a great start though I still have a number of issues with Fn keys not working etc at the moment. But anyway, first things first - the wifi... My N140 (UK mode...
