DVD drive on Samsung R510

Post by Arubu »

Hey there,

I'm running Linux Mint 16 64-bit Cinnamon on a Samsung R510. Most of the things are working fine, however the DVD drive is causing some troubles. For example, it is almost impossible to play audio CDs from it. It is extremly studdering and songs get interrupted every few seconds. I can work around it a bit by setting up the buffer of the audio software extremly high. But then it will take quite a long time when a song changes because it has to buffer first.
Furthermore, also ripping audio CDs is impossible, because it would take an unrealistic amount of time and sometimes causes the computer to crash.

All these things work fine with Windows, so I guess it is a driver problem. Has anyone else experienced this? How can I get my DVD drive work properly with LM16?

Thanks in advance! :)
