I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 netbook remix on my brand spanking new Samsung N120, which is basically an NC10 in a slightly larger case. Most things work, but I cannot get sound recording to work at all, which makes using Skype, well, hard
Any solutions out there?
Ubuntu 9.04 Sound Recording broken
RE: Ubuntu 9.04 Sound Recording broken
I don't use UNR, but it should work the same way...
Open 'Volume Control', and click on 'Preferences'. In the new window enable 'Input Source', then 'Close'. Now go to 'Options' and select 'Front Mic' as the Input Source.

RE: Ubuntu 9.04 Sound Recording broken
Wow, thanks that worked! Except that the sound levels (at least in Skype) are extremely low. I used alsamixer in a console to max out the front mic and the master, but recording and playback levels are much quieter than in Windows.
This was a common problem with earlier Ubuntus, on EeePCs and on the Samsungs, I'm really surprised it's still an issue with Jaunty.
