fan control on Samsung ATIV Book 7 / 730U3E

Post by arango_udea »

Hi everyone!!!

I recently bought a samsung laptop... first i use it under Debian but i found a lots of bugs, after this i use the laptop under kubuntu 14.10 and, in the same case as Debian, the CPU fan did not work properly, the system actually said: fan control is not available... I install samsung-tools, not work, change some GRUB parameter, not work, re-install under a different distribution, not work....
Anyone have this problem? Someone has fan control on this laptop model?

Currently I have Kubuntu 14.04....

I hope you can help me, thanks in advance.

PD: Sorry for my bad English :-[ ...

I have the same notebook and fan control did work (but i use gentoo linux). I also tried ubuntu and as i could remember i also got fan control to work there.

Do you boot kubuntu in UEFI mode ? If this is the case samsung-tools maybe not work for 100% because the kernel module for samsung notebooks will no be loaded because the notebook could be damaged by an UEFI problem for samsung notebooks.

So try to install your distro in "non-UEFI" mode.

On gentoo i needed at least the version 2.3.1 of "samsung-tools" to get everthing working ...
