Hello, I wish I could change the percentage of battery is charging. Remove windows and do not activate the load at 100% (with baterry extend life), you can change it now?
thanks, sorry for my English.

Re: Battery life extender 80%
Hello,
This is done through the BIOS settings.
Restart your machine and when the SAMSUNG logo appears, strike the F2 key (well, F2 on an N510, I do not know iif it's the same on all SAMSUNG netbooks..).
Once in the BIOS, select the "Advanced" page with the horizontal arrows.
In that page go down to "Battery Life Cycle Extension" and change the value "Disabled" to "Enabled".
Exit with saving the change and boot the machine.
The battery should then be later loaded to no more than 80% of its total capacity.

Re: Battery life extender 80%

Re: Battery life extender 80%
This is claimed by the Lithium batteries manufacturers, so why not believe them?
It's a matter of chemistry and physics.

Re: Battery life extender 80%
The NC10 does not have that option, and I don't think there is any way to limit the battery charge to 80%.
Re: Battery life extender 80%
Now kernel supports battery life extender. It is much more convenient to switch it from OS, than to reboot and use a bios setting.
"echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/samsung/battery_live_extender" to turn it on
"echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/samsung/battery_live_extender" to turn it off
It is easy to implement in samsung-tools. So why not do it?
For instance, I turned this setting on to extend life of the battery. But when I need to charge it 100%, I turn it on by a script.
