20/01/2011 lost brightness adjustment on N150

Hey guys, this is my first post here so be gentle with me please! So, my daughter has a N150 that last week was fine and today the brightness adjustment no longer works. The graphic on the screen shows and behaves as if it is adjusting but the screen brightness doesnt actually change. On mains power since bios control is set to auto the brightness is fine but boot under battery and its stuck on dim. Can anyone make a suggestion please?
